A few weekends ago we headed to this little gem in the seaside village of Noordhoek. I am not the most avid beer drinker, to be completely honest, I much prefer a lovely crisp Sauvignon Blanc or a deep, full bodied Shiraz…but sometimes, along comes a brewery that knows just how to change your mind! Meet AEGIR PROJECT, a little tap room situated right next to The Red Herring in Noordhoek, just 40 minutes drive from Cape Town.
We spent the afternoon in the cosy courtyard, under dappled sunlight, celebrating National Beer Day while listening to the melodic sounds of Jenny & the Jameses.
After a few half pints of the Aegir Projects epic Californian Steamin we just had to tuck into a Waikiki hot dog and the special of the day, a vegetarian dish called “Doubles” made by my chef friend Roy MacAskill. A tasty, slightly spicy Caribbean street food dish, perfect alongside an ice cold brew.
Find Aegir Project at 65 Beach Road, Noordhoek. Tap room is open Fri: 4-7pm / Sat: 12-6pm / Sun: 12-3pm.
