Aaaah, summer in Cape Town! It is the damn best! And it is even better when you find a little secluded beach to soak up the sunshine, have a sneaky G&T and just generally laze about.
Our favourite secluded beach is situated in The West Coast National Park, about an hours drive up the West Coast from Cape Town along the R27.
We have been going to The West Coast National Park for a few years and have always wanted to stay at that SanParks accommodation, Duinepos. Their website doesn’t make it look nearly half way as amazing as it is, so we were so stoked when we opened the door to our two bedroom chalet…right next to the pool! The accommodation was super neat and tidy, wheelchair friendly and very well equipped.
From Duinepos accommodation it is only a short drive further up into the reserve to get to Preekstoel beach, where we spent most days on our mini break, floating on lilos and soaking up rays. There are even open air braai facilities available here, I am definitely doing that next time we visit!
The lovely people at Sunshine Company let me test out the new GoPro Hero 5 to shoot a little video of our mini-break. It’s my first time shooting and editing with this nifty little thing. I have lots to learn, but it was super simple to use (it has a screen on the back to review footage) and the Quick editing software from GoPro itself was awesome to use. I managed to make a few short 30 second clips ( thats the longest it will allow you to make them) and then I stitched them all together in iMovie. I’d love to shoot more video & edit it properly (I think i lost a lot of detail when I processed it to a smaller file) but I’ll get there! Any tips welcome!
<3 Thanks to my love, Mark, and my friends Ally & Alain + Bridget & Bevan for letting me abuse you, I mean, film you for my first travel video!
*PS: you are not allowed to drink on the beach, so don’t be naughty! 😉
**PPS: by G&T I obviously mean Ginger Beer & Tonic 😛
